Applications Of Granite
Granite is the hardest and most durable of all dimensional stones used in the building industry. Indian granites are very popular for their unique colours and consistent quality in the most importment aspects like patterns and durability etc. This makes Indian granites the most preferred materials for applications like monuments, building facades, road building and garden paving / furniture. Granite is also used in interiors for walls, floors, kiteches platforms, table tops and other furniture.
We trade in granite blocks quarried mainly in South India and have modern facilities to process tiles, slabs and monuments. We maintain an inventory of granite blocks quarried in South India (Paradise, Absolute Blac, Black Galaxy, Red Multicolour, Juparana and many others) at our yards in Chennai and Tuticorin. We have recently set up a project near Tuticorin to process hand worked massive steps and floor slabls (bush hammered / flamed).
In this project the blocks are initially processed into smaller blocks / slabs using machines and finally worked by hand to required finish and specifications. This results in good quality products at very economical prices for such applications. This project is slated to commence commercial production by March 2007.
Somany Impex has also employed expert artisans at its yards to process garden furniture, handicrafts items and road building items from some of the most popular granites used for this purpose. We also extract garden and paving slabs thermally from certain granite quarries and hand process them at our yards before shipping. This technique has been employed in India since thousands of years using skilled specialist artisans for this purpose who have been inheriting their skills from their predecessors through generations.
